Basketball Camp

Andrew Nicholson

Head Coach / Founder

As a native of Mississauga, having this camp is my way of giving back to the young community of aspiring basketball players. At 44 hoops we specialize in catering to every age and skill level. We aid the development of young athletes by teaching the value of discipline on the court through vigorous training. More importantly we emphasize this same discipline to applied in the classroom. Being a 4 year student athlete, my goal is to show these campers that you can be both successful in the game of basketball and also in any academics they strive to achieve.

I have happily been a part of the 44 Hoops Camp as lead skills coach for the past 5 years. It’s been a joy working with the kids and giving back especially since Father Goetz is also my old school. Basketball in Mississauga and Canada is continuing to flourish. 44 Hoops with Andrew is not only fun for the kids but also shows the possibilities if basketball being used as a tool. It’s amazing having knowledgeable guest speakers, coaches, and even Canadian athletes come in and share with the group! This camp is so much more than just a place to play basketball. I have created DTailsMatter Basketball Training and have been developing basketball players as early as they have goals and a desire to achieve more. Working with players from various levels - novice to professional - with a very detailed, game focused approach. At 44 Hoops we try to challenge the kids with the same method in order to help build movements and skill sets to help their understanding and ability to apply their work. Attention to detail is very important and It’s very rewarding to see the attendees grow day by day with their focus as they are coached tough and held accountable from start to finish.

Hi, my name is Coach Jermy and I have been apart of 44 Hoops Camp starting year 2. I began working with the middle aged campers my first year but have worked with the younger campers ever since. I am a Physical Education teacher with the Peel District School Board. I am so very passionate about kids and physical activity. I want the campers to have fun while they keep active so that they want to have a lifetime that includes being active. I played basketball for George Brown College and have continued to be involved in basketball by coaching Rep teams for a club called 21 Hoops. I love Andrew’s story as it shows the campers that a kid from Mississauga can make it to the highest level of basketball and attain a top notch education at the same time. Books and basketball can go hand in hand. If the kids can walk away each day having learned something new and smiling then we as coaches have done a good job. The camp is about basketball but it is also about teaching the campers to be hard workers, push themselves beyond their normal limits, meet new people and to always remember that the details matter! Small things can go a long way.

Help us put a smile on a child's face. Your donation will go towards youths' tutoring services, basketball camps, and any other philanthropic efforts 44 Hoops will participate in throughout the year
